ACTIVATION Health Advances from Research Concept to Digital-Health Platform

The ACTIVATION research program has grown from a McCaig Institute SPARK Grant-supported research concept into ACTIVATION Health, a mobile-health platform for longitudinal activity tracking, questionnaire delivery, wearable-device integration, and research-data management.

By 2026, ACTIVATION Health was available through the Apple App Store and supported by secure University of Calgary-hosted research infrastructure. The project was also accepted into the Alberta SPARK Accelerator Program, supporting mentorship around innovation, partnerships, commercialization, and translational research development.

The platform continues to support studies in rehabilitation, orthopaedics, oncology, and recovery science while creating opportunities for trainee development, external collaboration, and future multi-institutional digital-health research.
