ACTIVATION Health Featured by UCalgary News
ACTIVATION Health was featured by UCalgary News on September 17, 2026, in an article about how the made-at-UCalgary platform aims to change the measurement of recovery.
The research program addresses a practical limitation in clinical assessment: recovery does not happen only during appointments. Mobility, symptoms, physical activity, and patient-reported outcomes change throughout daily life, while conventional follow-up captures only occasional snapshots.
ACTIVATION Health was developed to help research teams study that broader recovery experience. Its University of Calgary-hosted infrastructure supports participant enrollment and consent, questionnaires, longitudinal mobility and activity tracking, wearable-device integration, and research-data management.
The platform grew from the ACTIVATION research program—Activity Capture To Investigate Voluntary Activity in Oncology and Normal Populations—and now supports work involving musculoskeletal oncology, sarcoma, spine surgery, orthopaedics, and rehabilitation.
The UCalgary feature marks an important public milestone for a project that has developed from seed-funded research into a working digital-health platform and Apple App Store release.
