Summer Students Present at McCaig Institute Summer Student Symposium

Two Digital Athlete Lab summer students presented their research at the McCaig Institute Summer Student Symposium on August 13, 2025:

  • Sunnie Vuong (NSERC) delivered an oral presentation on “Structural Characteristics of Adductor Longus and Gracilis from Children with Cerebral Palsy”
  • Abdul-samad Ahmed (PURE) presented a poster on “Structural Properties and Mitochondrial Function of Cardiac Muscle in Response to a High-Fat and High-Sucrose Diet in Female Rats”

Both projects reflect the lab’s commitment to training undergraduate researchers in rigorous muscle physiology research, with Sunnie’s work advancing our understanding of pediatric cerebral palsy and Abdul-samad’s addressing sex-specific cardiac responses to diet-induced obesity.
